2007 E.T. Bell Fall Pathology Symposium


The 32nd E.T. Bell Fall Pathology symposium took place on Friday, November 2nd. This year's symposium focused on neuropathology and on the pathology of non-neoplastic diseases of the liver.

Dr. Kenneth Batts lectured on "Chronic Hepatitis: Making Sense out of Blue portal Tracts" and "Hereditary Hemochromatosis and Wilson's Disease: A Practical guide"; Dr. Dale Snover lectured on "Liver Biopsy in the evaluation of medication Reactions in the Liver"; Dr. Karen SantaCruz Lectured on "The Role of the Pathology Laboratory in the Diagnosis of Dementia"; Dr. Brent Clark lectured on "The Neuropathological examination of Cerebral vascular Disease"; and Dr. Bernd Scheithauer lectured on "The Spectrum of Benign and Malignant Nerve Sheath Tumors" and "The Pituitary: What Surgical Pathologists Should Know". During this event, the Annual Ernst Award for residents doing research was given to Drs. Steve Vanderwerf and Jared Schmidt.

This annual event is organized by the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota. Next year's symposium will focus on pathology of the gastrointestinal tract; we hope to see you here!
